EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:
Dar (Daniel Goddard) and Tao (Jackson Raine) find an Amenta, the ancient Egyptian symbol of Death, embedded in a rock face. Inches away from the Amenta, they also discover a frozen human hand. Dar is convinced that they should let the body rest in peace, but Tao's curiosity gets the better of him. As the Ancient One (Grahame Bond) and the Sorceress (Dylan Bierk) look on, Tao pries the Amenta sceptre from the rock, accidentally touching it to the outstretched hand. The sceptre begins to glow brightly, building up a charge of energy and causing the rock face to explode. When the dust settles, Dar and Tao find themselves face-to-face with Annubis (Bruce Spence), an imposing figure who claims the sceptre and declares his intention to reclaim his control over the four elements of nature: fire, water, air and earth.
Annubis begins his reign of terror by casting a spell on Tao that will slowly and painfully transform him into a guard dog for the new hell that will soon replace the existing world. Annubis then ignites a raging forest fire and disappears. Dar and Tao race to save the animals from the inferno. Annubis continues to wreak havoc on the world with torrential downpours, devastating windstorms and a massive earthquake. Dar becomes convinced that the sceptre is what gives Annubis his power, and vows to retrieve it from him.
Meanwhile, when the Ancient One and Sorceress approach Annubis in the forest, it is evident that the two men have a history together. The Ancient One had released Annubis years before, thinking he could harness his powers for the good of creation. The two disagreed on the way the universe should be run, and Annubis utilized his sorcery to push the powers of nature, destroying everything. With the universe in a state of chaos, the Ancient One wrestled the Amenta from Annubis, and engulfed him in a bed of rock for years until Tao finally found him. The Ancient One and the Sorceress know that the only ones with the power to contain Annubis are the ones that freed him. In the woods,

Iara (Sam Healy) tries to convince Dar and Tao that they are no match for Annubis' powers, and they should retreat with her to the safety of the underwater world.
Frustrated and vulnerable, Iara goes to the Ancient One and the Sorceress, but they maintain they are powerless to help. After the Ancient One leaves, the Sorceress reveals that Annubis can only be stopped by the ones who freed him. Iara takes this information to Dar. Though the Ancient One mildly scolds the Sorceress for interfering, he too attempts to bring order to the chaos by hinting to Dar about the existence of a fifth element which Annubis does not command.
As Dar puzzles over the Ancient One's message, Annubis appears. Dar flies at him in a fit of rage and manages to wrest the sceptre free just as Tao appears, now fully transformed into a dog. In Dar's distraction, Annubis retrieves his sceptre and orders Tao to attack. Dar tries to communicate with Tao as the two encircle each other. Finally, his gentle touch calms his friend, and at that moment Dar realizes that the fifth element is "life." Tao turns on Annubis, allowing Dar to tackle him to the ground and win back the sceptre. In turn, the Ancient One plucks the sceptre from Dar's hands and vows that he will control Annubis once and for all.
