EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:
Dar (Daniel Goddard) and Tao (Jackson Raine) are confronted in the forest by three Nord riders, dispatched by King Voden (David Paterson). The leader, Hjalmar (Mark Leeton) accuses Dar of being a thief, revealing that he and his men are tracking horses that were stolen from Voden the night before. The ensuing fight is suddenly interrupted by two mysterious archers, Sagitto (Andre Eikmeier) and Radia (Jodie Dry), who arrive on horseback and force the Nords to retreat. When Dar tries to calm one of the Nord horses left behind, Sagitto tells Dar to let the animal go, claiming the horse is theirs. Dar is completely taken aback when he makes eye contact with Sagitto, and is able to communicate with him as if he were an animal. Knowing the horse will be safe with Sagitto, Dar releases the animal to him.
A vision from Sharak reveals to Dar that the archers set the Nord horse free on the plains while their own unrestrained horses stayed by their side. Dar feels compelled to follow the archers. When he finds them, he watches from a distance as they mount their horses and morph into their animals' bodies - human heads and torsos on the bodies of horses. Back at camp, Tao tells Dar he's heard of such a race of creatures. They're skilled riders and archers by day, and transform themselves at the rise of the moon. Sagitto and Radia are Centaurs, forced from their homelands by a wall of ice and unsuited for the human world. With Tao in tow, Dar goes back out to find them.
Meanwhile, Voden orders his soldiers to hunt the archers down and retrieve his horse. In the chaos of the ensuing battle, the Nords take off with the archers' horses. Dar learns that the archers will die if they're still apart from their animals when the sun rises the next day.

Back at Voden's camp, Radia's mare hurts her leg in a struggle with her captors. At the same time, Radia feels a pain in her right leg and knows that her mare is in trouble. Dar and Sagitto set off to retrieve the horses, leaving Tao to minister to Radia. Tao applies a balm to Radia's thigh, and the mare is able to push herself back onto her feet.
In Xinca, Dar and Sagitto infiltrate Voden's compound. Dar creates a distraction by releasing the Nord horses from their corral. In the commotion, Dar and Sagitto rescue the mare and stallion. Voden and Hjalmar gape in disbelief when Sagitto jumps onto his stallion, and turns into a centaur. Dar escapes on the back of Sagitto's stallion and the mare follows behind. In her weakened state she has trouble keeping up, but the sun is rising, and she must get back to Radia before they both die.
By the time Sagitto and Dar return, Radia is near death. They pick her up and place her on the mare. Slowly the mare starts to move, Radia stirs and morphs into a centaur. But with Voden's army in hot pursuit of the "strange creature," they're still not out of danger. Dar sends the archers on their way, leaving him to contend with the Nords. Dar fixes Voden's horse with his eyes and suddenly, the horse stops dead and bucks Voden from his saddle. The other horses start to buck and rear, sending men flying in all directions, and allowing Dar and Tao to escape.
Elsewhere, The Ancient One (Grahame Bond) peers into the night sky at the bright constellation of the centaur archer Sagittarius and assures the Sorceress (Dylan Bierk) that the Centaurs will survive.
