EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:
When Dar (Daniel Goddard) and Tao (Jackson Raine) first meet young Bahktiar (Ben Seton) in the Xinca marketplace, the athletic huckster is luring opponents into good-natured sparring matches to the delight of the cheering crowd. Challenging Dar to a match, he loses the upper hand and becomes enraged. He bolts towards an outer wall at the end of the market, leaps like an animal, and disappears. Stunned by what he has witnessed, Dar goes after the stranger.

The Sorceress (Monika Schnarre) also witnesses the incident. The Ancient One (Grahame Bond) cynically warns her not to meddle in the affairs of human emotions, but the Sorceress ignores him. When Dar suddenly comes face-to-face with a raging puma, the Sorceress sends out a flash of lightning. The puma transforms, revealing himself to Dar as Bahktiar.

Dar convinces Bahktiar to talk to him, and learns that it is Bahktiar's rage that causes him to transform into a puma. Long ago, Bahktiar had been Prince Bahktiar, brother of the evil Nord King,

Voden (David Paterson). Voden's jealousy towards his brother had grown into a vicious rivalry. Knowing that one day his rage would result in the death of Voden, Bahktiar confessed his fears to his mother, Margret (Caroline Kennison).

Meanwhile, Tao is summoned by Voden to help break through Margret's cold and angry demeanor. She begins to open up as she tells Tao the story of the rivalry between the two brothers. Unbeknownst to Bahktiar and Voden, however, Margret had sought help from The Ancient One who sent Bahktiar away with a curse that would surface whenever the rage built up. Since then, Margret has suffered guilt and remorse.

Finally cleansed of their inner demons by communicating their problems, Bahktiar and Margret hope to reunite, but Voden still stands in their way. A vicious battle ensues, but in the end the reunion takes place, and Voden finally retreats.

Only the Ancient One, whose love for Margret was long ago rejected, remains unchanged by these events. The bitter man now vows to punish the Sorceress for making the mistake of becoming involved in human emotions like he had once done. He banishes her to a prison of amber until the end of time.
