SYNOPSIS:
At the site
of a mysterious stone obelisk, Dar
(Daniel Goddard) and Tao (Jackson
Raine) unearth a hidden chamber with walls bearing a crude pattern
of five stars. When Dar places his fingertips on the five stars,
the rune on the palm of his hand begins to glow. Also in the cave
is an ancient book covered with the same five-star symbol as well
as the rune that Dar bears on his palm. The book reveals a prophecy
about the "chosen one," a king who returns to the land
to dispel darkness. The kin of the chosen one were scattered across
the earth long ago, but it seems one may have resurfaced in the
forbidden Land of Mists.
Having learned
that Dar's father changed his family members into animals, saving
them from the evil Balcifer, Dar hopes he has finally found a link
to his family, as well as the key to his destiny. Despite Tao and
Arina's (Marjean Holden) warnings
that he's embarking on a suicide mission, Dar prepares to travel
to the Land of Mists on a quest to find his family and put an end
to Balcifer's reign of terror.
With faith as
his weapon, Dar enters the Land of Mists and disappears from sight.
On his journey, he saves a beautiful woman, Morah (Leeanna Walsman),
from a wild boar. As the creature charges back into the forest,
Morah stares at her savior with a mixture of fear and awe before
bolting away. Curious, Dar follows her back to her village where
he is greeted by the village chief, Kumon (Harold Hopkins), who
believes him to be the chosen one, their god. Suddenly Dar finds
himself surrounded by villagers, who bow before him as Morah stands
shyly to his side. While Dar denies their claims that he's the chosen
one, Kumon insists that it is exactly as it was foretold by the
prophecy: Dar came through the mists of death, he communes with
the beasts and now he is here to deliver them from the evil Gormon,
the monster who sent the deadly mists to their land long ago.

Informing Dar
that there is one final test that will prove that he is their savior,
Kumon takes him to the Tosah Temple where a sacred bird has been
kept since it appeared in their village 20 years before. When Dar
takes the bird in his hand, the rune on his palm flares and he knows
instantly that this beautiful exotic creature is his mother. Seeing
this, Kumon locks the bird back in her cage and orders Dar to wait.
Later at a ritual
in his honor, Dar is fed a golden nectar. The next thing he knows,
he wakes up in bed with Morah, who was sent there to be "purified"
before she is offered to the Gormon. Kumon, upon learning that Dar
sent Morah away from his bed, becomes enraged. An altercation ensues.
When Dar is nicked by a soldier's sword and begins to bleed, Kumon
accuses Dar of misrepresenting himself. Dar reminds him that he
never claimed to be a god. Still desperate to appease the Gormon,
Kumon vows to go ahead with the ritual, but decides to offer the
precious bird in place of Morah.
Dar, determined
to save the helpless bird, makes it back to the ritual pit and waits
until the Gormon appears. In a sneak attack, Dar pounces on the
monster who, in turn, sends Dar flying through the air. Dar quickly
scrambles towards the birdcage and releases the precious bird. He
then takes out the Gormon in a final act that brings the villagers
to their feet in a wild cheer. Dar defeated the Gormon, not as a
god, but as a human with the courage and belief that evil can be
beaten. For now, he has lost his mother, but he knows she's out
there and he will find her again.
