EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:
Dar (Daniel Goddard) and Tao (Jackson Raine) set out for Xinca, Tao's homeland, which he recalls as a peaceful civilized nation. As they near their destination, Tao stumbles across an icon carved in sandstone bearing jade mosaics and black obsidian. The jade, like the stone in his ring, is the mark of his people, the Eirons. The obsidian is a mirror through which Holy Men can see the present and future. Unbeknownst to Tao, his future looks very bleak indeed. The peaceful Eirons have long since vanished, and Xinca is now under the rule of the malevolent Maloc (Steve Bastoni).

A young woman watches from the shadows as Maloc and his evil "priests" corner Dar and Tao in the Xinca marketplace. Maloc drags Tao away to prison to await execution. Dar is hotly pursued by Maloc's priests. The young woman, whom Dar recognizes as Tao's friend, Caro (Tasma Walton), quickly intervenes and saves him from the clutches of the priests. Caro tells Dar that while Maloc and his crooks call themselves "priests," they are nothing more than killers and thieves. She further reveals that the Eirons who were not murdered by Maloc have escaped into the mountains. Although she no longer wears the jade ring identifying her as an Eiron, Caro has vowed to stay in Xinca to bear witness to Maloc's atrocities.

While Tao bargains for his life, Dar and Caro concoct an elaborate scheme to free their friend. In a swift maneuver, they liberate Tao and escape the walls of Xinca. In the end, the incident compels Caro to join the surviving Eirons in the mountains where they can begin the important process of rebuilding their peaceful civilization.

Elsewhere, the warrior Arina (Marjean Holden) vows revenge on the Terrons for destroying her tribe and killing her mother. She leads the Nords, whose King is the eccentric young Voden (David Paterson), to the Terron camp. The battle is quickly won and the Terron camp destroyed. Only through the intervention of the Sorceress (Monika Schnarre) is King Zad (Steven Grives) able to escape into the forest.
