The Devil You Know -- Episode #318

EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:

Zad's sister, Callista (Mel Rogan), set on winning the favor of Balcifer, lures Dar's brother, the goat, into a trap. Dar (Daniel Goddard) and Tao (Jackson Raine) follow right behind. Zad (Steven Grives) arrives on the scene, curious about his sister's motives. He orders his Knights to capture the two men. By the time Dar and Tao manage to escape the fray, the goat has fled. Dar sends Tao to Arakann to recruit Arina's (Marjean Holden) help, while he resumes the search for his brother.

Having been caught, Callista tries to convince her brother that she's on his side. Moments later, however, she sends him careening over the side of a cliff, shackled to Dar. When the goat joins Callista, she changes him into his human form, Sendar (Simon Watts), King Eldar's eldest son. Callista leads Sendar back to Xinca, and starts to work her magic, promising that together they will defeat Dar, restoring the crown of Eldar to Sendar as the rightful heir.

Meanwhile, unaware of Dar's troubles, Tao and Arina look for their friend. Dar, still chained to Zad, is clinging to life by a thread. With the help of Kodo and Podo, Dar manages to save himself and Zad. The two go back to Xinca to find Sendar and Callista. By now, Callista has taken over her brother's throne and won the loyalty of his Knights. Sendar, now at her side, has succumbed to her charms.

Tao and Arina head to Xinca, but Tao is quickly captured by Callista's Acolytes, while Arina is left to fight off the Knights. Dar and Zad also arrive in Xinca, much to the aggravation of Callista. She takes out her frustration on Tao, and Sendar pronounces that Dar's friend be put to death.

While Arina tries to save Tao, Dar and Zad burst in on Callista and Sendar as they make their plans to take over the throne of Eldar. Dar's joy at seeing his brother is short-lived when he realizes that Callista has overpowered him with her dark magic. Despite Dar's efforts to reason with his brother, Sendar threatens to kill him and claim Eldar's throne as his own.

Callista assures Sendar that Dar can't retaliate against him. His quest would be doomed if he failed to reunite his family in the Ark. For now, Sendar must be turned back into a goat and put into the Crystal Ark, but when Dar's mission is fulfilled, and his family members are released to fight Balcifer, Callista will be there waiting for Sendar.

With Dar and his friends gone, Callista is left to face Zad. She admits that the chance to gain Balcifer's favor was enticing, but "nothing personal." Zad understands all too well, and responds by pushing his sister into a boiling tar pit. Meanwhile, Arina wonders aloud if Dar's father was trying to tell him something when he turned Sendar into a goat.
