EXTENDED SYNOPSIS:
In an attempt to lure Dar the BeastMaster (Daniel Goddard) to Xinca, Voden (David Paterson) captures animals of the forest, knowing that Dar will hear their suffering and come to save them. Voden's goal is to achieve the BeastMaster's command over the creatures for his own nefarious purposes.

Meanwhile, Dar protects a Tasmanian tiger from the arrow of Kaleb (Peter Lamb), the last of the Neando tribe, who seeks vengeance on the creature claiming that it killed his family. Communicating with the tiger, Dar learns the animal is innocent, and is compelled to defend him. He knocks Kaleb unconscious, and drags him back to his campsite where he's held captive under Tao's (Jackson Raine) watchful eye. Dar then sends Ruh to protect the Tasmanian tiger while he goes in search of the truth about the murders. Once Dar is gone, Kaleb tricks Tao into freeing him, and resumes his hunt for for the animal.

At Kaleb's hut, Dar scans the ground and finds the tip of a bronze sword just as Sharak appears overhead, warning him that Kaleb has escaped. Dar immediately races back into the forest. Meanwhile, the tiger suddenly smells danger and runs. With Ruh chasing after him, the two animals run right into Voden's trap. Voden recognizes Ruh as the BeastMaster's companion and knows that Dar will soon arrive in Xinca to save him. Hot on the trail of the Tasmanian tiger, Kaleb orders Voden's warriors to release the animal to him, but Voden has him tossed into a cage while he awaits the BeastMaster's arrival. When Dar finally arrives, Kaleb realizes he has come to free the animals, as Voden predicted. He tricks Dar into releasing him, and again embarks on his search for the tiger.

In a last effort to lure the BeastMaster, Voden orders the killing to begin. The bloodthirsty audience howls in anticipation as the Tasmanian tiger is led to the pit. Meanwhile,

Arina (Marjean Holden) finds Kaleb slipping quietly between the rows of cages, and warns him that he too will die in the pit if Voden finds him. Kaleb contends that if he kills the tiger, he will at least die happy, but Arina warns that the price of vengeance is high.

Voden finds Kaleb and orders him into the pit with the tiger, promising that the victor will be set free. As the deadly confrontation ensues, both Kaleb and the animal are wounded before Dar is able to leap into the pit to tell Kaleb he has proof it was the Nords, not the Tasmanian tiger, that killed his family. Unconvinced, Kaleb begins to attack Dar.

Meanwhile, Ruh, freed by Kodo and Podo, disrupts the fight and Voden orders the BeastMaster to be brought to him. While Dar tends to the wounds of the injured tiger, he tells Voden that this animal has been hunted to the verge of extinction simply because man had no use for him. When Voden tries to convince Dar that his military prowess, coupled with Dar's ability to command the animals, will allow them to rule the world, Dar's spurns the idea.

Elsewhere, Arina is nursing Kaleb's wounds when he notices a colorful scarf she carries, given to her by Voden. Remembering his wife once wearing it, he realizes that the BeastMaster was right - it was Voden's soldiers who killed his family.

Angered by the BeastMaster's rejection, Voden sends Kaleb and the Tasmanian tiger back into the pit. Now armed with the truth, Kaleb accuses Voden of killing his family, and threatens him with his sword. Dar warns him that Voden's soldiers will rip him apart. Dar jumps into the ensuing fray and defeats Voden's men. Voden, enraged and vowing revenge, is escorted away by Arina. In an ironic twist of fate, Kaleb and the Tasmanian tiger, who are the last of their respective bloodlines, become unlikely companions.
